MultiTRaC Spring 2006 Curriculum

Classes meet at the Jacob Blaustein Building at 165 East 56th Street on the corner of 3rd Avenue. Allow time to get to the 7th floor by 4:30 pm, and bring photo I.D.

Requirements:

  • Two reviews and one revision.
  • Other assignments as given.
  • Attendance at all class meetings and outings.
  • Participation and warmth.

Assignment for 3/22: Write a personal response (2-3 paragraphs) AND a critical response (2-3 paragraphs) to "Bulrusher."
Read Todd London's article from American Theatre:
"What We Talk About When We Talk About Good"
Prepare two questions for Todd London, one about his work as a critic/essayist, and one about "Bulrusher."

March 16: - THEATER OUTING - BULRUSHER by Eisa Davis
Meet no later than 7:45 pm at Urban Stages, 259 W. 30th Street , between 7th & 8th Avenues. A, C, 1, 2, 3 to Penn Station.

March 22: - Guest: Todd London, Artistic Director of New Dramatists, former Managing Editor of American Theatre Magazine.
Assignment for 3/29: "Bulrusher" review.

March 29: - Writing Workshop.
"Bulrusher" review due.
Assignment for 4/5: Prepare questions for Danny Felsenfeld, about his work as a critic and/or composer (www.felsenmusick.blogspot.com), and about contemporary classical music.

March 31: - MUSIC OUTING - CASSANDRE by Michael Jarrell
performed by St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, including pre-performance talk. Meet no later than 6:15 pm at Zankel Hall (at Carnegie Hall) - 7th Ave b/w 56th and 57th Street. A, B, C, D, or 1 to Columbus Circle , N, Q, R, or W to 57 St./7th Ave, E to 7th Ave.

April 5: - Guest: Danny Felsenfeld, Composer and Music Critic

April 12, 19: - Break.
